Font Haiku
Loathsome Comic Sans’ uneven inky slugtrails. That vile, hated font. Transparent? Get real. Sickeningly self-conscious. Yep, Helvetica. Trebuchet MS, Web designers sick of want use you, but still weep. From the seventies, Not one thing or the other: It is Optima. Let’s make a movie! Oh, in that case you must use Manly Trajan Pro. Arial, the clone But not of helvetica. Grotesque is...

Touching Strangers is a collection of photographs by Richard Renaldi, in which he composes strangers together in unassuming scenarios. Without knowing the context of the shots, I think i would’ve looked at each photograph and invented narratives that connect the subjects together. Via The Rumpus

0.0003 kilowatt hours*
…is the energy expended in a Google search. “Until now, it was a rarely pondered question: Between the virtual bookends of someone searching for revealing pictures of Lindsay Lohan online and a search engine producing said pictures, how much energy is consumed? Thanks to an Internet mini-controversy this week, inquisitive minds now have a pretty good approximation: 0.0003 kilowatt...

Designs for Living
An original 1961 Playboy article about the masters of design. Admittedly, I haven’t read much editorial content from Playboy (take that admission as you will), but i doubt that it features content like this anymore. Via Lush Pad.

"Thank you, Your Holiness. Awesome speech."
- George Bush Welcoming Pope Benedict XVI to the White House, 16 April 2008 One of several ‘Bushisms’ featured here on the Gaurdian (via Mary Christa O’Keefe) Also worth the Bush nostalgia,  is Jon Stewart’s The Bush Years. I had forgotten huge amounts of his idiocy. Who will be the butt of the world’s jokes now?

I need to learn how to sew.
My favorite collection of fabric is from a German company called Volksfaden, who’ve cleverly created collages for each of their collections using old black and white photos as a vehicle for fabric swatches. Unexpected and delightful!
